The Caucus is Where Grassroots Involvement Begins!

7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 3, 2026
Registration begins at 6:30 p.m.
Falcon Ridge Middle School, lower level, 12900 Johnny Cake Ridge Rd, Apple Valley

Welcome!  We hope you’ll be able to join your neighbors at your precinct caucus on the evening of Tuesday, February 3!

Who can participate in caucuses?
All residents of Senate District 56 who consider themselves a member of the DFL, and will be 16 years old by November 3, 2026, are welcome to participate in caucuses.   Participants must be 18 by November 3, 2026 to be eligible to vote on or run for a position at caucus.  Participants must agree with the principles of the DFL party, as stated in the State DFL Constitution and Bylaws.

Can I bring my kids? Yes, kids are welcome!

What is my Senate District?
Find your Precinct and your Senate District with the Secretary of State Polling Place Finder here.
Senate District 56 includes all of Apple Valley (Precincts 1-16), most of Rosemount (Precincts 1-5, 7, & 8), and Eagan Precinct 18.

Will my district or precinct be the same as it was in 2024?
Yes!  Please make sure you find the correct district and precinct here.

What happens at caucus?
  • We elect delegates and alternates to attend the SD56DFL convention which will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026 at Falcon Ridge Middle School, convening at 10 AM.
  • We adopt resolutions for consideration in the State DFL Action Agenda or Ongoing Platform.   Find and download a resolution form here.
  • We elect precinct chairs and vice chairs in each precinct for 2-year terms.
  • Participants can volunteer to help plan the SD56DFL convention by signing up to be on a committee.
  • We will get to meet our state legislators and our DFL neighbors.
  • We can learn more about other opportunities to get involved and help get democrats elected.

What if I can't attend caucus?
If you want to participate in the caucus, but can't attend in person you can fill out this non-attendee form.

  • Fill out this form and have someone else bring it on caucus night, or
  • Send this form (or an email with all of this information) to [email protected] no earlier than Thursday, January 8, 2026 and no later than Saturday, January 31, 2026.

As a non-attendee you won’t be able to vote (for candidate straw polls, delegates, or resolutions), but you will be able to:
  • Be nominated and possibly elected as a precinct officer or a delegate or alternate to a higher level convention
  • Submit resolutions for caucus approval by attaching a Resolution Form. (see link below) •
  • Sign up to help in other ways: as an Election Judge, or as a member of a committee setting up for a higher level convention.

How can I submit resolutions?
Submitted resolution forms must include your name, contact information, and precinct. You must submit a non-attendee form to be eligible to submit resolutions. The options for submitting resolutions are similar to those for submitting non-attendee forms.

  1. Complete a fillable-PDF Minnesota DFL Resolution Form, or use one of the pre-formatted resolutions provided by DFL Community Caucuses and other advocacy organizations. Submit the resolution using one of the US Mail, email, or drop-box options described in option 2 of the Non-Attendee Form submission process described above. Electronic copies of these forms can also be uploaded to here
  2. Print a blank Minnesota DFL Resolution Form or one of the pre-formatted resolutions provided by DFL Community Caucuses and other advocacy organizations, and use one of the US Mail, email, or drop-box options described in option 2 of the Non-Attendee Form submission process as described above. Electronic copies of these forms can also be uploaded to here

What if I have additional questions?
Please feel free to contact SD56 Chair Janet Rohlf at [email protected]
