Precinct Caucus Breaking News
Because the MN Democratic-Farmer-Labor-Party (DFL) is concerned about the health and safety risks of the recent surge in the spread of Covid, Senate District 57 (Apple Valley, Rosemount, Coates, and Lakeville precincts 16, 17, and 18) has chosen to replace in-person precinct caucuses with Contactless Precinct Caucuses. You can participate simply by completing a Caucus Non-Attendee form. There's no meeting, no Zoom, no tickets. Keep reading for more info. Who can participate in caucuses?
All residents of Senate District 57 who consider themselves a member of the DFL, and will be 18 years old by November 8, 2022, are welcome to participate.

What about redistricting?
SD57 is caucusing under our current Senate District. We hope to receive redistricting information around February 16, but the results could arrive later. We will let you know where and when your new Senate District will have its convention if you participate in your precinct caucus and provide an email address.

How will convention delegates and alternates be elected?
Between February 7 and 11, your Senate District Convention delegates will be selected from names submitted on Non-Attendee forms using one of the following methods:
How will precinct chairs and vice chairs be elected?
Precinct chair and vice chair positions will be considered vacant as of caucus night on February 1. Elections for these positions will be held subsequent to redistricting by the appropriate Central Committee(s) from persons indicating interest in these positions on their Non-Attendee form or recruited to these positions. Central Committee meetings are open to the public and online.
How will pre-convention committees be formed?
Pre-convention committees will be appointed by the appropriate Central Committee(s) from those indicating interest on their Non-Attendee forms or recruited to committee membership.
How can I learn the results of my caucus?
All participants will be notified by email of the results of delegate and precinct leadership selections for their precinct. Pre-convention committee members will be notified of their appointments by email. Please provide an email address that you check regularly.
How will resolutions be adopted?
All submitted resolutions will be treated as adopted by their precincts.
How can I submit a Non-Attendee Form?

Submitted resolution forms must include your name, contact information, and precinct. You must submit a non-attendee form to be eligible to submit resolutions. The options for submitting resolutions are similar to those for submitting non-attendee forms.

- Indicate your desire to be a delegate or alternate to your Senate District Convention.
- Indicate your desire to be a precinct chair or vice chair.
- Indicate your support for a candidate or issue.
- Volunteer to serve on a pre-convention committee.
- Submit resolutions.
How will convention delegates and alternates be elected?
Between February 7 and 11, your Senate District Convention delegates will be selected from names submitted on Non-Attendee forms using one of the following methods:
- When a precinct has more delegate positions than names submitted by participants on Non-Attendee forms, all of those participants become delegates and there will be no alternates.
- When a precinct has fewer delegate positions than names submitted by participants on Non-Attendee forms, delegates will be selected by lot (at random) with equal division in an open online meeting that everyone can watch. Positions for alternates will be filled using method 1 or 2 as needed.
- There is no option for subcaucusing.

- Submit an online form no later than 9 p.m., February 1. The form is available here.
- Complete a fillable-PDF Precinct Caucus Non-Attendee Form (available here), and submit the completed form using one of the following methods:
- Print the form to paper, sign it, and post it to US Mail to arrive by February 1, addressed to:

- Print the form to paper, sign it, and place it in the SD57 drop-box on February 1, between 6:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. The drop-box will be at:
