Position Descriptions
D56 Director Responsibilities

Directors attend monthly meetings and perform functions assigned by the SD56 Central Committee.  
These functions may include working on:


  • Events
  • Social media
  • Data management
  • Campaign support
  • Precinct development
  • Outreach
  • Training

​Directors are party unit officers, members of the SD56 Executive and Central Committees, and are expected to attend monthly SD56 meetings held on the 4th Tuesday of each month via Zoom or in person.  Directors will support the endorsed DFL candidates.

State Central Committee Delegate or Alternate Responsibilities

The State Central Committee (SCC) is the governing body of the MN DFL between State Conventions. SCC Delegates (and their Alternates, as needed) are expected to attend up-to-quarterly meetings which are held throughout the State. SCC Delegates are also members of the SD56 Executive and Central Committees, and are expected to attend monthly SD56 meetings.  Delegates are also voting members of the CD2 DFL committee which meets every second Tuesday of the month.  Delegates will support the endorsed DFL candidates.

The following 2 officer positions will be filled for a 1-year term in 2026 and thereafter will be a 2 -year term electable in the odd years along with the other SD Officers (Chair, VChair, O&I, Secretary & Treasurer).

Communications Officer
Our success depends on spreading our message far and wide. The Communications Officer will:
  • be responsible for maintaining and keeping current the content on the unit’s website;
  • update the unit’s social media presences;
  • distribute the unit’s newsletter;
  • email updates to the membership; 
  • maintain contact with the State DFL Party’s communications office;
  • be responsible for promulgating the notices and press releases that may be required of the unit as set forth in the Official Call;.
  • at the direction of the unit chair, notify members of the unit’s central and executive committees of SD meetings. 

Data and Technology Officer
  • The data and technology (D&T) officer will, in coordination with the SD56 secretary, maintain the electronic records (upon request, these records must be available to any member of the SD in a read-only format).
  • The D&T Officer will be responsible for administration of the SD56 website. 
  • They must attend state party training on the use of the DFL voter file (VAN) and provide training and technical assistance to the SD on use of the voter file.
  • They will also  assist the chair and other officers with the technological platform on which the unit’s virtual and/or hybrid meetings are held. 
  • They will also perform other functions as may be assigned to them from time to time by the unit’s executive or central committee
